Van Allen Named USTFCCCA Coach of the Year
NEW ORLEANS, LA – Head coach Bobby Van Allen was named the USTFCCCA Division III Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year, it was announced Tuesday. Van Allen guided the Blue Jays to their fourth NCAA National Championships title in five years last Saturday to earn Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in his career.
Three Blue Jays earned All-American honors en route to JHU’s victory at the NCAA National Championships, which totaled 128 points. Hopkins posted a 74-point margin of victory over second place Washington (MO), the largest margin of victory for the Blue Jays in the NCAA National Championships.
Van Allen guided Johns Hopkins to first place finishes in six of its eight meets in 2016, including helping the Blue Jays’ to their ninth consecutive Centennial Conference Championships and NCAA Mideast Regional Championships titles. JHU also won the Iona Meet of Champions Gold Race to begin the season, defeating several Division I teams in the process.
Van Allen and Hopkins will transition to the indoor track season, kicking off the season December 3 at the Diplomat Open in Lancaster, PA.
