LANCASTER, PA - Junior Natalia LaSpada of the top-ranked Johns Hopkins women's cross country team has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Rowan Inter-Regional Race.
LaSpada won the race on Saturday with a time of 21:11.2, which was almost a full three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The time set a new personal best time in a 6k race for LaSpada, besting her old time of 21:15.1 which she set at last year's NCAA National Championship race. The Blue Jays finished second overall in the race which featured 239 runners and 27 teams.
Hopkins will be in search of its 10th straight Centennial Conference Championship when the team returns to the course on Sunday October 29th for the conference championships, which will be held at Gettysburg College. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 am.
