Furlong Named Centennial Conference Runner of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Junior Cecilia Furlong (San Francisco, CA/University High School) has been named the Centennial Conference Runner of the Week for her efforts at the Williams Invitational last Saturday in Williamstown, Ma. Furlong is the first Johns Hopkins runner to earn the award this season.
Furlong was the first Blue Jay to cross the finish line at the Williams Invitational, placing fourth overall in a field of 210 runners with a time of 22:29. Furlong has been JHU's top finisher in every race this season, capturing the Baltimore Metro Championship on September 3 and placing eighth overall at the Salty Dog Invitational on September 18.
Furlong's fourth-place finish helped the ninth-ranked Blue Jays take third place in a field of 19 teams that included six of the top 20 teams in the nation. JHU totaled 86 points and placed ahead of sixth-ranked MIT and 20th ranked Amherst. Hopkins finished behind only second-ranked Middlebury and eighth-ranked Williams.
Johns Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, October 9 when the Blue Jays travel to Orlando, Fl. for the Disney Classic.
