LANCASTER, PA – Looking for its 10th straight Centennial Conference title, the Johns Hopkins women’s cross country team earned all possible first-place votes (9) while receiving 81 total points in the Centennial Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, which is voted on by the league’s coaches and released today. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own team.
Coming in second in the poll was Dickinson with 71 points, followed by Haverford, which received the remaining first-place vote and 67 points. Rounding out the top five are Swarthmore and Muhlenberg with 56 and 45 points, respectively.
The Jays are coming off another successful season which saw them win their ninth straight Centennial Title by a 21-point margin. They also captured their fourth National Championship in the last five seasons. Felicia Koerner was named the Centennial Runner of the Year, while Rebecca Grusby earned Centennial Rookie of the Year laurels.
Hopkins will open the season on September 1 at the Baltimore Metro at 6:30 pm.
