WILLIAMSBURG, VA - The Johns Hopkins women's cross country squad captured third place behind Michigan State (19 points) and William & Mary (42 points), which are each currently ranked in the top 25 nationally.

Junior Laura Paulsen finished in 12th place with a time of 22:28, while junior Mira Patel claimed 17th in 22:48. Along with Cecilia Furlong, who finished in 23:14 for 22nd place, the three finished ahead of the top finisher from any of the other six schools on a 6k course littered with hills.

Paulsen, Furlong and Patel stuck together through the first two miles of the race, while sophomore Christina Valerio, junior Mary O'Grady and freshman Kathryn Baselice all ran as a pack for the first two miles as well, before spreading out for the finish. O'Grady finished in 37th place in 24:14, as Valerio took 40th in 24:31 and Baselice notched 41st in 24:36.

The Blue Jays finished with 102 points and took third overall.
