BALTIMORE, MD - High Points The Johns Hopkins volleyball team had a 2-0 week in Centennial Conference play to improve to 5-1 in the league and 17-5 on the season. The Blue Jays have not lost a set since October 8 at Gettysburg.

The team recorded its best hitting percentage (.257) in Centennial Conference action in 2008 to fly past Franklin & Marshall, 3-1 at home on Wednesday.

Junior Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) led the Blue Jays with her 12-kill, 15-dig double-double. Senior Kim Jackanich (Pacifica, CA/St. Ignatius) and junior Rhea Alexander (Roseville, CA/Roseville) each had 15 digs, while junior Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco University HS) recorded 11 kills. Senior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/ St. Mary's Hall) tallied 31 assists.

The Blue Jays extended their Centennial Conference win-streak to three with its victory over the Swarthmore Garnet on Saturday in Goldfarb Gymnasium.

Sophomore Alica Diehl (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) and Jackanich led the Blue Jays with eight digs apiece. Zenoff led the squad with eight kills, while Lewis recorded seven kills, two blocks and 21 assists. Junior Kristen Kozielski (Columbia, MD/Atholton) added 10 assists.

Hitting It Big

The Blue Jays own the best hitting percentage in the Centennial Conference (.230) as well as the second, third and fourth-best hitters in Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco University HS) (.299), Adrienne Young (Oakton, VA/Thomas Jefferson) (.294) and Amanda Lewis (.273).

Zenoff is hovering near the JHU career-hit percentage record of .302 with her .299.

Senior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/ St. Mary's Hall) has recorded 4,593 assists in her career at Hopkins thus far and remains just 114 helpers away from the Centennial Conference career assist record.

Coming Soon

As they prepare to host Washington on Wednesday, the Blue Jays boast a 6-1 home record in 2008 and went undefeated at home in ten games a year ago. Just four regular-season contests remain for the Blue Jays.

The Shorewomen are 11-14 (0-6 CC) in 2008. The match will begin at 7 p.m. in Goldfarb Gymnasium.

JHU is has been victorious in its last 18 contests against Washington, dating back to 1994, a year after the Centennial Conference was formed. The Blue Jays put away the Shorewomen, 3-0, in the last 17 consecutive matches (1994-2007).

Hopkins will travel to Bryn Mawr on Saturday, October 25 to take on the 12-8 Owls. Bryn Mawr is 2-4 in Centennial play with victories over Ursinus and Swarthmore.

The Blue Jays have claimed the past 10 matches, allowing just one to surpass three sets.
