LANCASTER, PA -- Senior outside hitter Elizabeth Wuerstle has been named the Centennial Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for her performance during the week which saw the #23 Johns Hopkins volleyball team extend its winning streak to 15 matches.
Wuerstle, who has excelled from the service line this season, racked up 20 aces in the Blue Jays three matches this week, including 13 in a 3-0 victory over Muhlenberg which tied the team record. Wuerstle leads the conference with 69 aces and 1.12 aces per set. Her 1.12 aces per set are also best in the NCAA. The senior also recorded 19 kills and eight blocks and hit .356 as Hopkins defeated Dickinson, Washington & Lee and Muhlenberg by identical 3-0 scores.
The Blue Jays are currently 16-2 and 5-0 in the conference. JHU will return to the court on Wednesday, October 11 as it travels to McDaniel for a 7 pm match.
