BALTIMORE, MD - Away From Home

Johns Hopkins took down its second Centennial Conference foe on the road Wednesday at Dickinson. The Blue Jays defeated the Red Devils, 3-0. Junior Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA/ San Francisco University HS) had nine kills, while senior Adrienne Young added seven kills and Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) had a team-high 14 digs and seven kills. Senior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/ St. Mary's Hall) had a double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs.

Fighting the Fords

Hopkins hosted Haverford in its Centennial Conference home-opener on Saturday, falling to the Fords, 3-2.

After losing the first set, 25-23, Hopkins didn't give up. In its longest set of the season, Hopkins hung in for a 33-31 victory. With the score knotted at 30-30, junior Rhea Alexander (Roseville, CA/Roseville) tipped the ball over for a point. Haverford answered back for a point and freshman Sarah Feicht (Austin, TX/James Bowie) recorded a kill to give Hopkins the lead, 32-31. A Haverford attack sailed out of bounds, which gave Hopkins the second set victory.

The Blue Jays won the fourth set as well, 25-22 before coming up short in the fifth to give the Fords the win, 3-2.

Senior Amanda Lewis led the way for Hopkins with a triple-double of 42 assists, 10 kills and 14 digs. Junior Alex Zenoff added 11 kills, while Feicht had 12 kills and three blocks. Senior Adrienne Young had 8 kills and five blocks for the Blue Jays.
 

 

OH Alex

Junior Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco University HS) has led the squad in kills all season long and now has 164 on the season. She also leads the team in hitting percentage with .287.

Ace

Sophomore Brittany Zimmer (Melville, NY/Half Hollow Hills East) and her jump serve are certainly effective this season, as she leads the team in service aces with 20.

One and Only

Junior Allison Cappelaere is the only Blue Jay to collect 100 or more kills and digs in 2008. The junior has 119 kills and 158 digs on the season.

On Her Roll

Senior Amanda Lewis notched a double-double in Hopkins 3-0 defeat of Dickinson on the road on October 1 with 27 assists and 11 digs. Lewis also tallied a triple-double of 10 kills, 42 assists and 14 digs as JHU fell 3-2 to Haverford on Saturday, October 4. Lewis earned a spot on the Centennial Conference Weekly Honor Roll for her performances last week.

League Leaders

Junior Alex Zenoff is second in the conference in hitting percentage (.287) followed by senior Adrienne Young (.276). Hopkins also leads the league in team hitting percentage (.223)and is second in team kills (11.26 kps).

Up Next

Hopkins travels to Gettysburg today to take on the Bullets in a battle with the No. 1 team in the Centennial Conference. Gettysburg is 4-0 in conference play this season and is 5-5 at home this season.
