PITTSBURGH, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team defeated Washington & Jefferson 3-0 in the ECAC South Volleyball Tournament Semifinals on Saturday. The Blue Jays (25-5) will face Carnegie Mellon on Sunday in hopes of winning its first ever ECAC Volleyball Championship.

Hopkins jumped out to the early lead in the match, taking game one 30-16. The Blue Jays hit .314 in that game. Hopkins took game two 30-26 and clinched the match with a 30-19 victory in game three.

The Blue Jays had two players post double-doubles in the match. Senior Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) contributed 10 kills and 21 digs on the match. Sophomore Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) had 11 kills and 10 digs while junior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) dished out 42 assists. Sophomore Katie Buckheit (Fairfax, VA/Paul VI Catholic) had 17 digs on the day.

Washington & Jefferson was led by Emily Yaros, who posted 20 assists and 16 digs on the match. Courtney Sherwin had six kills and six blocks while Beth Mihalik had four kills and four blocks.

Hopkins will face Carnegie Mellon tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. for the ECAC South Championship.
