Senior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) broke the Centennial Conference career assist record with her 38 assists against Haverford as the Johns Hopkins volleyball team fell to the Fords, 3-1 in the Centennial Conference semifinals. The Blue Jays move to 20-7 to end the season, while Haverford advances to the Centennial Conference title game with its 23-6 mark.
Haverford captured sets one and two, 25-20 and 25-22 before Hopkins battled back to win the third set, 25-22. The Fords surged to a 25-8 victory in the fourth set to claim the match 3-1 and advance to the Centennial Championship game. The Fords will face Gettysburg on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Gettysburg College.
Lewis entered the match needing just 34 assists to set a new conference record. The senior notched 38 assists against Haverford to set the new Centennial Conference career assist standard at 4,712. She surpasses Haverford's Emily Hinchcliff, who recorded 4, 707 assists in her career. Hinchcliff set the record in 2007 in 413 career sets. Lewis totaled 4,712 in just 334 career games.
Freshman Sarah Feicht (Austin, TX.James Bowie) had 15 kills to lead Hopkins, while junior Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco University HS) had 9 kills. Junior Rhea Alexander (Roseville, CA.Roseville) led the Blue Jays with 18 digs. Sophomore Taryn Segal (Los Angeles, CA/Marlborough) also added two service aces.
