Hopkins Tops McDaniel in Straight Sets

WESTMINSTER, MD - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team defeated McDaniel, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-23), on Wednesday night for its seventh straight win and sixth sweep in its last seven matches. The Blue Jays are now 17-11 (7-2 CC), while the Green Terror fall to 3-19 (2-7 CC).
Sophomore Becky Paynter (30 assists, 11 digs) and junior Melissa Cole (10 kills, 21 digs) each recorded double-doubles to pace Hopkins. Junior Sarah Feicht led JHU in kills with 13, while senior Alica Diehl posted a team-high 22 digs. Sophomore Carolyn Mickelson totaled double-digit kills for the Blue Jays with 10.
Sophomore Anne McShea led the Green Terror with 11 kills and 14 digs, while senior Katie Ferguson added six kills and 11 digs in a losing effort.
Johns Hopkins returns home to Goldfarb Gym on Saturday, October 30 for a pair of matches to conclude its regular season slate. The Blue Jays host Mary Washington at 10 am in non-conference play, before squaring off against Centennial Conference opponent Ursinus at 1 pm in the final match of the regular season.
