BALTIMORE, MD - Senior outside hitter Emily Miller (Richmond, VA/Governor's School) totaled a team-high 11 kills and 13 digs to lead the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a sweep of visiting Washington College, 3-0 (30-18, 30-18, 30-23), in Centennial Conference action. The Blue Jays improved to 12-12 overall and 3-2 in the conference, while the Shorewomen remained winless for the year at 0-21 overall and 0-5 in CC play.
Miller now leads the team with 287 kills and 360 digs for the season. She is on pace to set a school-record for digs per game (4.39) in a single season. Junior middle hitters Sarah Payne (Roanoke, VA/Cave Spring) and Elisabeth Breese (Geneva, NY/Geneva) contributed on the offensive end with 10 and eight kills, respectively.
Freshman setter Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) totaled a team-high 35 assists and three aces, while also adding six kills and five digs. Freshman right side player Erin Trish (Lexington, MA/Northfield Mt. Hermon) was second on the team with 11 kills and freshman defensive specialist Katie Davis (Mesquite, TX/North Mesquite) chipped in with nine.
Senior outside hitter Courtney Williams (Schaumburg, IL/IL Math & Science Academy) finished with five kills and seven digs.
The Blue Jays return to action this Saturday with a Centennial Conference tri-match against Ursinus and Dickinson beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Collegeville, PA.
