BALTIMORE, MD - Junior Stephanie Kaliades (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood) totaled a match-high 24 kills and added 21 digs to lead the Johns Hopkins volleyball team to a hard fought 3-2 (25-30, 30-20, 30-24, 28-30, 15-11) victory over the College of Notre Dame Tuesday evening. The Blue Jays improved to 8-11 with the win, while the Gators had their 10-match winning streak snapped and fell to 11-3 overall.

Hopkins dropped the first game, 30-25, but rebounded to win games two (30-20) and three (30-24) as the team combined for 32 kills and just six attacking errors. The College of Notre Dame took the fourth game (30-28) to set up the fifth and deciding game. After JHU took a 2-0 lead in the fifth, the Gators won eight of the next nine points to grab an 8-3 lead. The Blue Jays responded by winning 12 of the final 15 points to take the game and the match.

Kaliades' season-best 24 kills increased her team-leading total to 236 for the season. Junior Samantha Raggi (Cresskill, NJ/Cresskill) was second on the team with 12 kills, while sophomore Skye Young (Salisbury, MD/James M. Bennett) and freshman Colby Perkins (Manhattan Beach, CA/Mira Costa) added 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

Perkins tied Kaliades for the team lead with 21 digs, while Young collected 18 digs and two blocks. Sophomore Betsy Baydala (Rockville Centre, NY/South Side) tallied a match-high 49 assists to go with 14 digs, and senior Courtney Cromwell (Westbury, NY/Carle Place) chipped in with 10 digs.

The Blue Jays try for their third straight win tomorrow as JHU travels to face Villa Julie at 7:00 p.m.
