ST. DAVIDS, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team suffered its first loss of the season with a 3-0 defeat at Eastern on Wednesday night. The Blue Jays (4-1) are now 1-5 all-time against the Eagles after dropping three games by scores of 30-26, 30-24 and 30-24.

Both teams struggled hitting the ball as Hopkins hit .185 for the match while Eastern hit .189. The Eagles did get two double-doubles on the night. Katie Ressler had 10 kills and 25 digs while Emma Klein contributed 15 kills and 22 digs. Brittany Cunliffe dished out 35 assists on the night.

Sophomore Alex Zenoff (San Francisco, CA/San Francisco University HS) led the Blue Jays with 10 kills while junior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) dished out a match best 37 assists. Sophomore Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) posted a team best 16 digs. Junior Fiorella Castillo (Jamaica, NY/Francis Lewis) produced three service aces and 11 digs in two games while senior Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) had 13 digs and eight kills.

Hopkins returns to action on September 7th at the Battlefield Classic hosted by Gettysburg College. Hopkins is scheduled to face Catholic at 3 p.m. and Messiah at 7 p.m.
