LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins women's track & field senior Christina Valerio has been honored as the Centennial Conference Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Duke Invitational last weekend. Valerio captured the individual title and set a new school record in the 10,000 meters at the meet.

Valerio, who had a stellar indoor track & field season capped off by a second-place finish in the 5000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships, ran the 10,000 meters last Friday at Duke in a school-record and NCAA provisional time of 36:01.99, besting both the JHU record and her next closest competitor by more than 35 seconds. Valerio's mark currently ranks third in all of Division III.

The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday, April 16 as they host the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.
