MARIETTA, Ohio - Junior Laura Paulsen of the Johns Hopkins women's track & field team competed in the 5,000 meter at the NCAA Championships Saturday at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. Paulsen placed 10th of 17 overall with her time of 17:37.55.

The junior set the Centennial Conference record in the 5,000 meter when she qualified for the event on April 23 at the Penn Relays. Her time of 16:52 seeded her in the No. 1 spot heading into the national championship.

Paulsen beat out Centennial Conference rival Darcy McDonald of Dickinson college by six one-hundredths of a second. McDonald finished in 11th place at 17:37.61.

The 5,000 meter run at the NCAA outdoor championships is the third event this year that Paulsen has both qualified and competed in.
