Eckstein Wins 10K, Blue Jays Lead After First Day of Conference Championship

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - Freshman Hannah Eckstein helped the Johns Hopkins women's track & field team to an early lead in the Centennial Conference championship standings as she won the 10,000-meter run nearly 13 seconds ahead of second place.

Johns Hopkins took the early team lead with 27.5 points, followed by Dickinson (19) and Muhlenberg (12).

Eckstein finished the 10,000-meter run with a time of 36:57.68, nearly 13 seconds ahead of Catherine Campbell of Dickinson who crossed the line at 37:10.49. Sophomore Lara Shegoski brought home third for the Blue Jays with a time of 38:30.77 while Frances Loeb was the third scoring runner for Hopkins, taking sixth with a time of 39:59.13.

Kelsey Bower brought home a fourth-place finish for the Blue Jays in the pole vault, leaping 3.05m while Emily Kashka finished fifth at 2.89 meters.

The Centennial Conference championship meet continues tomorrow, May 5 at Ursinus College.
