Blue Jays In Third Place at Centennial Women's Track Championships

GETTYSBURG, PA -- The Johns Hopkins women's track team earned three second-place finishes on the second day of the 2008 Centennial Conference Track Championships and will enter Sunday's final day of competition in third place in the team standings. The Blue Jays have amassed 44 points and trail only Gettysburg (68) and Haverford (57) in the team standings.
The Blue Jays' 4x800-meter relay team of Rachel Hogen, Mira Patel, Martina Dodd and Kit Harris clocked in at 9:33.45 to earn its silver medal. The Blue Jays finished behind only Haverford in the event.
Jessica Reeves added a second-place finish in the pole vault as she cleared 10-feet even, while Logan Ashcraft added a third-place finish with a jump of 9-00.25 to give the Blue Jays 14 crucial points.
Rounding out the top peformers for the Blue Jays on day two was Kethy Horn, who totaled 3,360 points in the Heptathlon to earn a runner-up finish. Horn was a steady finisher in each event on Saturday as she earned 460 points in the javelin with a first-place finish, 598 points in the 800-meter run (2nd place), 539 points in the 200-meter dash (2nd place), 481 points in the high jump (2nd) and 413 points in the long jump (2nd). Competition at Gettysburg's Musselman Stadium continues on Sunday with the first event at 11 am.
