GRANTHAM, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team had a successful day at the Messiah College Invitational on Saturday. The Blue Jays claimed several first place finishes and saw two school records fall in the relays as the Jays finished fourth of 13 teams.

Host Messiah won the meet with 180.50 points while Bridgewater was second with 101.50 points on the day. Gettysburg finished third with 97 points followed by Hopkins and Mary Washington rounded out the top five as the Eagles had 87.50 points.

Freshman Laura Paulsen won the 800 meters as she crossed the line with a time of 2:20.16 while sophomore Rachel Hogen won the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:56.43. The 4x800 relay team completed their event with a time of 9:53.03, good for first place and a new Hopkins record in that event. The 4x100 relay team finished second on the day while their time of 50.49 also set a new school record.

Senior Giselle Joseph finished third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.84 while sophomore Paula Osborn was third in the 200-meter dash after crossing the line in 27:25. Freshman Mira Patel finished fourth in the 800 meters as she crossed the line in 2:28.02. Freshman Mary O'Grady crossed the line in 12:36.41 to finish third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase while junior Jessica Reeves was third in the pole vault with a leap of 2.74m.
 

 

Hopkins returns to action on April 20th and 21st at the Widener Invitational.
