Hopkins Competes at Mason Spring Invitational

Megan McDonald had successful finishes in both the 100m and 200m sprints.

FAIRFAX, VA- The Johns Hopkins women’s track and field team competed at the 2016 Mason Spring Invitational on Saturday. The event, which was hosted by George Mason University, consisted of mostly Division I programs.

In the sprints, Hopkins was led by Megan McDonald (13.02 100m; 26.89, 200m), Caroline Smith (1:02.45, 400m) and Jenn Su (15.66, 100H).

Leading the way for the Jays in the 800m run was Gina D’Addario, who finished in 2:23.83. Erin Brush crossed the finish line just after D’Addario, doing so in 2:25.64.

The top Hopkins finisher in the 5000m run was Emily Stahl, who crossed the finish line in 18:55.30. Maggie Gill also ran in the event for Hopkins, finishing in 19:52.89.

A pair of top 10 finishes in the high jump highlighted the Blue Jay field events. Freshman Maya Hammonds finished in fourth with a 1.65m mark, while classmate Jaynie Criscione leaped 1.55m which was ninth place.

The Blue Jays will be back in action next Thursday and Friday. at the Mount Multi Meet and next Saturday for their only home meet of the season, the JHU/Loyola Invitational. The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00am at the Hopkins/Loyola track.
