BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team finished first out of four teams in the Hopkins Loyola Outdoor Invite. Johns Hopkins totaled 309 points on the day. Loyola came in second with 185 points, followed by Rutgers-Camden with 45 and McDaniel with 43.
Laura Paulsen won the 800m run with a time of 2:23.57. Paulsen also won the 1500m run with a time of 4:46.29. Liz Provost finished second in the 1500m with a time of 4:52.05.
Mira Patel finished second in 5000m run with a time of 19:27.43. Patel was the highest finishing collegiate runner in the race.
The Blue Jays took the first-through-third spots in the pole vault. Chery Yeung and Emily Kashka each reached a height of 2.90m while Stephanie Spetka reached a height of 2.44.
Alana Merkow won the shot put with a throw of 12.00m.
Tara Burglund finished second in the 100m dash with a time of 14.24 while Alison Smith finished second in the 200m with a time of 28.47. Vallenilla ran the 400m dash in 1:01.18, which was good enough for second place.
Cecilia Furlong placed second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:15.00.
The track and field team returns to action on April 17 at the Widener Invitational.
