BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team was defeated by York College, 73-54, in dual meet action this afternoon in Baltimore. The Blue Jays won eight of the 15 meets on the day, including four of the six field events.

Senior Kathy Darling (Milford, DE/Milford) dominated the discus and javelin events once again and also placed third in the shot put. Darling won by over 54 feet in the discus with a mark of 157'6" and placed first in the javelin with a throw of 128'10" to win by more than 25 feet. She recorded a mark of 32'4" in the shot put to finish third.

Senior Jackie Evans (State College, PA/State College) won the shot put with a throw of 35'9.5", while freshman Joanna Cohen (Roslyn, NY/Roslyn) placed first in the long jump with a mark of 14'2.5". Evans was also third in the discus with a mark of 98'7".

Cohen joined seniors Nikki Gross (York, PA/York Suburban) and Ly-Lan Wisler (Bridgewater, NJ/Peddie School) as the lone Blue Jays to take first in a running event. Cohen won the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.38, while Gross placed first in the 400-meter dash at a 66.22 pace and Wisler won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:15.7. Gross was also second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.2.

The Blue Jays return to action Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March 29 as Hopkins competes in the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State University.
