Hopkins Competes at Navy Sweetheart Multi-Mix

ANNAPOLIS, MD- A contingent of runners from the Johns Hopkins women’s indoor track & field team competed at the Sweetheart Multi-Mix Thursday. The event was hosted by the United States Naval Academy in the Wesley Brown Field House.

Hopkins was led by Natalia Laspada and Catharine Wain, who each took home first-place honors in their respective events.

LaSpada won the 3,0000m race, crossing the finish line in 10:40.39. The freshman was joined by Veronica Boswell (third place, 10:44.34) and Shaina Palmer (fourth place, 10:47.51) in the top four.

Wain was one of three Blue Jays who swept the top-  in the pole vault. The freshman cleared 2.85m, while her teammates Helen Girod (2.70m) and Penny Li (2.40m) finished second and third, respectively.

Jaynie Criscione finished second in the high jump, leaping 1.60m. The freshman tied the school and freshmen indoor records with her performance. 

Jenn Su also had a productive day for Hopkins, as the sophomore finished in second place in two events. Su’s time of 9.48 seconds in the 60m hurdles earned her a second-place finish, as did her long jump of 5.19m.



Hopkins is slated to resume action tomorrow and Saturday when it travels to Boston for the Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University.
