Chester, PA - Sophomore Katie Finnigan (Bend, OR/Mountain View) won the high jump with a jump of 5'1" to lead the Johns Hopkins men's and women's indoor track teams Saturday at the Widener Invitational.
Finnigan also tied for third in the triple jump with a 32'8.50" mark, while junior Andrea King (Farmington, NY/Farmington) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 37'10.75" and senior Megan Carr (Highland Mills, NY/Monroe Woodbury) tied for sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 8'6".
Freshman Megan Clarke (Oradell, NJ/River Dell) finished fifth in the 200-meter dash in 29.38, while sophomore Nancy Yu (Santa Monica) was seventh in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.11. Sophomore Hannah Bracken (Monterey, MA/Mount Everett) placed ninth in the 400-meter dash in 1:06.66, and senior Anna Stirgwolt (Salem, MA) finished eighth in the 3000-meter run in 11:43.19.
The Blue Jays also finished fifth in the 4x160 meter relay in 1:34.21 and fifth in the 4x400 meter relay in 4:37.29.
Sophomore Nick Culbertson (Indianapolis, IN/Heritage Christian) led the Hopkins men by finishing third with a high jump of 6'0", while sophomore Tai Kobayashi (Rolling Hills, CA/Phillips Exeter Academy) tied for fourth with a mark of 5'10" and freshman Matt Smith (Hamden, MA/Minnechaug) tied for eighth with a jump of 5'6".
Sophomore Ted Esborn (Cleveland, OH/Saint Ignatius) was the other Blue Jay to place in a field event, as he finished tied for ninth in the pole vault with a mark of 11'6".
Sophomore Aaron Landgraf (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque Academy) placed 10th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.10, while sophomore Andrew Bauerschmidt (Carle Place, NY/Carle Place) was also 10th in the 3000-meter run in 9:36.87. Freshman Tim Pruiett (Somers, NY/Somers) placed 11th in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.58, just ahead of Kobayashi, who was 12th in 8.70.
The Hopkins 4x800 meter relay team placed third in 9:00.33, while the 4x160 meter relay team was sixth in 1:21.00.
The Blue Jays return to action on Saturday when Hopkins competes in the Frank Colden Invitational on the campus of Ursinus College. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
