Hopkins Finishes Third at Frank Colden Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team finished third at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday. The Blue Jays were the top Division III team at the meet as Towson and Temple captured the top two spots. Two Centennial schools rounded out the top five as Gettysburg and Dickinson finished fourth and fifth respectively.
The Blue Jays were led by freshman Laura Paulsen who won the 800 meter run. Paulsen crossed the line in a time of 2:20.90. Paulsen was joined in the top five by Mary O'Grady, whose time of 2:28.76 was good enough for fifth.
Jordan Ireton just missed out on a top spot as she finished second in the 200 meter dash with a time of 27:08. Rachel Hogen was fourth in the one mile run with a time of 5:23.77. Finishing fourth in the 3,000 meter run was Emma Hiza for the Blue Jays with a time of 11:01.77. Alex McMillan was not far behind Hiza as she finished in 11:02.84.
The 4x200 relay team of Giselle Joseph, Paula Osborn, Viann Nguyen and Ireton finished third with a time 1:52.03. Jessica Reeves finished fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 2.90m.
Hopkins returns to the track on Monday, February 5th when it competes at the Haverford Invitational at 5 p.m.
