Nichols, Hopkins' record holder in the pole vault, took first in the pole vault as he cleared 13'6". Nichols also placed third in the 60 meter high hurdles with a time of 9.4 seconds.

On the women's side, freshman Chi Chi Ogbonna finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.1 seconds.
