NEWARK, DE - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field captured the Divsion II & III title at the Delaware Winter Invitational. Jessica Reeves captured the pole vault and the high jump to lead the Blue Jays.
Hopkins finished with 273 points to capture the Division II and III title at the tournament while Cabrini and Widener rounded out the top three. The host team, University of Delaware captured the Division I title at the event, finishing with 231 points. Princeton and Delaware State rounded out the top three in the Division I portion of the event.
Senior Jessica Reeves captured two events for the Blue Jays on the day. She won the pole vault with a leap of 2.90m and the high jump with a jump of 1.45m. Becky Lossing won the long jump with a distance of 4.64m and was second in the triple jump with a leap of 8.83m. The triple jump was captured by freshman Anita Mikkilineni (8.90m).
Mikkilineni finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.24. With a time of 2:57.93, freshman Jessie Hollingsworth won the 800 meter run. The Blue Jays swept the one mile run, led by freshman Christina Valerio who crossed the line with a time of 5:35.12. Valerio was followed across the line by junior Rachel Hogen (5:41.33) and freshman Megan Brower (5:43.66).Valerio also won the 3,000 meters with a time of 11:08.69.
Hopkins returns to action on January 19 at the University of Maryland Invitational.
