Baltimore, MD - Ben Baron, men's and women's tennis coach at Johns Hopkins University, has resigned his position effective immediately, it was announced Thursday by JHU Director of Athletics Tom Calder.

Baron coached both Blue Jay teams for the last six years, beginning in the 1998-99 season. His men's teams went 45-26 overall and 33-13 in the Centennial Conference during his tenure, including a 10-6 overall and 7-1 league mark in the 3001 spring season. The Hopkins men's team finished with a winning record in each of his first five seasons and went 5-5 this year, ending the year with five straight wins after beginning the season with five losses. Additionally, the Blue Jays had a winning Centennial record in each of his sis years.

The Hopkins women's team struggled during Baron's first three seasons, but he turned the program around in the 2002 spring season, as the Blue Jays went 9-3 overall and 8-2 in the conference. Hopkins was 7-7 in 2003 and 7-4 this spring, including 7-3 Centennial marks in both seasons. In six years under Baron, the women's team went 35-41 overall and 31-27 in league action.
