New Wilmington, PA - Johns Hopkins sophomore tennis player Vandna Jerath (Augusta, GA/Augusta Prep) was named to the 2003 Verizon College Division All-District II Women's At-Large Third Team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Jerath, who has a 3.95 grade point average with a major in neuroscience and a minor in writing seminars, went 9-8 overall and 6-4 in the Centennial Conference at No. 1 singles this season for the Blue Jays. She earned the No. 3 seed at the conference women's singles championship and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Jerath teamed with freshman Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) to post a 6-8 overall mark and a 6-4 league record at No. 2 doubles for Hopkins, which finished the season 7-7 overall and 7-3 in league play.

Jerath is a Dean's List student and a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. The women's at-large program includes all athletes competing in the varsity sports of crew, gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey, swimming, water polo, field hockey, lacrosse, tennis, golf, and rifle.

To be nominated for the Verizon Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 or higher cumulative grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
