Final Stats

FREDERICKSBURG, VA - Freshman Nandita Krishnan (Chennai, India/Sishya School) and sophomore Carolyn Warren (Boulder, CO/Fairview), seeded third in the championship, became the first doubles pair in program history to advance to the finals of the ITA Regional Championship match. In addition, Warren also advanced to the singles semifinals.

In the doubles draw, Krishnan and Warren beat Cze-Ja Tam and Courtney Chin (Carnegie Mellon), 9-7, in the semifinals. The pair was then matched up against top-seeded and 2009 NCAA Semifinalists, Laura Chen and Ashley Herrick, also from Carnegie Mellon. Chen and Herrick won the first set, 6-2. But Krishnan and Warren responded in the second, winning 6-4 and forcing a super tiebreaker to decide the match. Chen and Herrick edged out the pair from Hopkins, 10-8, to take the doubles title.

Earlier in the day in the singles draw, fourth-seeded Warren squared off against top-seeded Chen in the semifinals. It was the fourth time the two had met in the last 12 months, with Chen having won all three previous meetings. Unfortunately, the fourth time was not the charm for Warren as she fell in straight sets to the reigning ITA Rookie of the Year.

Warren concludes the fall with a sparkling 10-1 singles record. While she and Krishnan combined to go 4-3 in doubles this fall. The ITA Southeast Regional concludes the fall portion of Hopkins schedule. The Blue Jays return to the court in February for the ITA Division III National Indoor Championship. Hopkins is slated to take on Washington & Lee in the first round on February 26 in Greencastle, IN.
