The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team won its fifth straight match by shutting out McDaniel, 9-0, Monday afternoon.
The Blue Jays improved to 7-2 overall and 7-1 in the Centennial Conference with the victory, while the Green Terror fell to 0-10 overall and 0-4 in league play.
Junior Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) and senior Cara Loeys (Surrey, England/American Community School) defeated Sharon Desperak and Ashley Baker 8-3 at No. 1 doubles, while freshman Priya Puri (Wayzata, MN/The Blake School) and sophomore Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) topped Danielle Magid and Emily Puls 8-2 at No. 2. Freshman Meghan Hasenauer (Weston, CT/Greens Farms Academy) and sophomore Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) improved to 7-0 on the year by posting an 8-2 victory over Katie McLean and Shannon Pusey at No. 3 doubles.
Liang defeated Pusey 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Leese topped Desperak 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Puri knocked off McLean 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3, while Loeys posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Zelia Johns at No. 4. Hasenauer shut out Baker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, while senior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) defeated Cara Miller 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.
The Blue Jays host Swarthmore Wednesday at 4 p.m.
