Lancaster, PA - The Franklin & Marshall women's tennis team won two doubles matches and three singles matches to edge Johns Hopkins, 5-4, Saturday afternoon.

The Diplomats improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Centennial Conference, while the Blue Jays fell to 2-2 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Katie Gaskins and Jenny Dubow defeated senior Cara Loeys (Surrey, England/American Community School) and junior Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, while Barbara Bee and Lizzy Denenberg edged freshman Priya Puri (Wayzata, MN/The Blake School) and sophomore Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) 8-6 at No. 2 for Franklin & Marshall. Sophomore Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) and freshman Meghan Hasenauer (Weston, CT/Greens Farms Academy) picked up a doubles point for the Blue Jays as they defeated Beth Connor and Lauren Hakkinen 8-6 at No. 3.
 

 

Liang came back to defeat Dubow 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, but the Diplomats took the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles to put the match away. Gaskins topped Leese 6-4, 6-3 at No. 2, Bee bested Puri 7-6, 6-4 at No. 3 and Connor defeated Loeys 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4. Hasenauer remained undefeated in singles play this season by posting a 6-3, 2-6, 8-6 victory over Denenberg at No. 5, while senior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) defeated Hakkinen 8-1 in a pro set at No. 6.

The Blue Jays host Gettysburg Wednesday at 3 p.m.
