The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team dropped its third straight match by falling to St. Scholastica, 5-4.
Sophomore Vandna Jerath (Augusta, GA/Augusta Prep) defeated Steph Miettunen 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) topped Katie Kundel 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. The other singles winner for the Blue Jays was freshman Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin), who defeated Erin Simanson 6-2, 6-2 at No. 5.
Emily Jakola defeated junior Cara Loeys (Oxshott Surrey, England/American Community School) 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2, and Steph Sparby bested Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) 6-1, 7-5 at No. 4. Stacy Qwest topped Pauline Pellitier (Arlington, TX/MB Lamar) 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 for the Saints.
Kundel and Miettunen defeated Loeys and Liang 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, while Jakola and Sparby topped Jerath and freshman Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) 8-3 at No. 2. Crowe and Leese picked up a doubles point for Hopkins by besting Simanson and Qwast 8-3 at No. 3.
