The Mississippi College women's tennis team won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches to post a 6-3 victory over Johns Hopkins.
Sophomore Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) defeated Diane Swalm 6-1, 6-1 at No. 3 singles while freshman Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) defeated Holli Adams 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 at No. 5 singles for the Blue Jays.
Lauren Bicker topped sophomore Vandna Jerath (Augusta, GA/Augusta Prep) 6-3, 5-7, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Katherine Fountain bested junior Cara Loeys (Oxshott Surrey, England/American Community School) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Ashley Diaz defeated junior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, while Shannon Randle topped junior Whitney Austin (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6.
Bicker and Swalm defeated Loeys and Liang 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Fountain and Diaz bested Jerath and freshman Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Hopkins picked up the No. 3 doubles point as Crowe and Leese defeated Randle and Adams 8-4.
