Dave Woodring begins his second year as the head coach of the Johns Hopkins women's tennis team. He spent the past six seasons as assistant coach for the men's and women's teams with Director of Tennis Operations Chuck Willenborg. In his first season as head coach, Woodring carried on the Blue Jays' winning tradition as they took home their fifth straight Centennial Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fourth straight year. Hopkins also extended its conference win streak to 50, the longest win streak in Centennial Conference history. Carolyn Warren was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year, a Second Team Academic All-American and earned the NCAA Elite 88 award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA's championships. Warren along with freshman Hailey Hogan and sophomore Nandita Krishnan, were named 2011 ITA All-Americans, the most in one season for the Blue Jays. Woodring has been involved with tennis in the Baltimore community for the past 18 years. He has helped coach in the grassroots tennis programs with the Greater Baltimore Tennis Patrons and helped coach the Eastern Tech High School teams. He also coached his son, Ryan, to a competitive USTA ranking and onto All-America honors for Harford County Community College. He is currently coaching at Green Spring Racquet Club located in Lutherville MD.
