Ellen Berlinghof returned to Johns Hopkins in 2012 after a four-year playing career to join the coaching staff. She is a 2010 graduate of Johns Hopkins with a degree in mechanical engineering. Berlinghof is in her fifth season on the Jays' coaching staff.
A four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete and a two-time captain for the Blue Jays, Berlinghof helped Hopkins to a four-year record of 65-21 with four straight undefeated conference seasons (40-0). Hopkins won four straight Centennial Conference titles and advanced to three straight NCAA Sweet 16 trips during her career.
Berlinghof holds the school record for career doubles wins (76) and conference doubles wins (34). She ranks fourth all-time in singles wins (52) and second in total wins (128) and is one of just three players in school history to reach 100 total wins. She won a then school-record 37 total matches in 2007 and set a then program record with 20 doubles wins in 2009. Berlinghof went a combined 63-2 in Centennial Conference matches during her career, to rank second in program history. She also advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Southeast doubles championship in 2007.
