BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's swimming team will be making its 28th straight appearance in the NCAA Championship this March as 11 Blue Jays were selected for this year's championship. Head coach George Kennedy, in his 24th season, has guided Hopkins to 13 top-10 finishes and 17 top-15 finishes.

The 2009 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championship, hosted by Macalester College, will take place March 18-21 at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Senior Sarah Andryauskas (Lexington, MA/Lexington/Gettysburg), an All-American at Gettysburg before transferring to Hopkins, has qualified in the 100 and 200 Fly and the 200 and 400 Medley Relays. The school record holder in the 100 Fly (55.54), she has posted the five fastest times in program history in that event. Andryauskas is also a member of the school record holding 200 (1:44.93) and 400 (3:51.44) Medley Relay teams.

Freshman Khristine Ghemigian (Oak Park, CA/Oak Park) will swim the 200 and 500 Free as well as the 400 and 800 Free Relay. She swam both on the 400 and 800 Free Relays that broke school records at the 2009 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship. Sophomore Meagan Heslin (Wyckoff, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) is making her second appearance at the NCAAs after earning All-America honors in the 800 Free Relay and 200 Fly last season. She will swim the 200 Fly, the event she set the school record in (2:06.07) just 16 days ago.


 

 

Also making her second straight appearance is sophomore Michele Palopoli (Gwynedd Valley, PA/Germantown Academy). She garnered All-America honors in the 800 Free Relay and the 200 Fly last season. Palopoli will be swimming the 200 Fly and the 400 Free Relay. She is also a member of the school record holding 400 Free Relay team (3:29.40). Junior Lisa Qu (Atlanta, GA/Westminster) is making her second appearance in the NCAAs after earning All-America honors in 2007 in the 200 Free and 400 Medley Relays and will swim the 200 Fly.

Freshman Elizabeth Rogers (North Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast) will swim the 50, 100 and 200 Free as well as the 400 and 800 Free, 200 Medley and 400 Medley Relays. She holds the school record in both the 50 and 100 Free and is a member of the school record holding relays teams in the 400 and 800 Free and 200 and 400 Medley. Freshman Margaret Spach (Laguna Niguel, CA/Aliso Niguel) will swim the 200 and 400 IM as well as the 400 Medley Relay. She has posted the fourth fastest time in the 200 IM (2:08.73) and 400 IM (4:34.90) in school history as well as being a member of the record holding 400 Medley Relay team.

Senior Elissa Stautner (Conroe, TX/Oak Ridge), a four-time All-American, is making her fourth straight appearance in the NCAAs. She will swim the 200 and 500 Free and 800 Free Relays. She is also a member of the record holding 800 Free Relay team. Freshman Tiffany Tembreull (Lino Lakes, MN/Circle Pines) will swim the 100 Back as well as the 200 Medley Relay, of which she is a member of the school record holding team. Freshman Annie Tsay (Sacramento, CA/Mira Loma) will swim both the 100 and 200 Back, as well as the 400 Free, 200 and 400 Medley Relay teams. She is a member of the school record holding relay teams in all three relays.

Senior Megan Zepp (Montgomery Village, MD/Stone Ridge) is making her second appearance in the NCAAs after earning All-America honors in the 800 Free Relay in 2007. She will swim the 200 Free as well as the 800 Free Relay, of which she is a member of the school record holding team.
