BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins sophomores Brandon Fabian and Michelle Wang have been honored by for their performances in the inaugural Blue Jay Invitational this past weekend. The pair have been named the men’s and women’s Independent Swimmers of the Week. The two combined for six new pool records as well as six NCAA B times.

Wang opened the weekend by breaking the pool record in the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.73. On Saturday morning, she swam the second leg of the 800 Free Relay, which broke the pool record in 7:35.74. The relays’ time broke the previous record by more than 14 seconds. In the third and final session, Wang added another NCAA B time to her slate with a 2:05.69 in the 200 Fly.

Three of Fabian’s swims broke pool records that were more than 14 years old. His first record came on Friday night as part of the 400 Medley Relay (3:20.84), which broke the 14-year-old mark by more than eight seconds. On Saturday morning, Fabian took down the 200 Free record, which was set in 2002, by 1.21 seconds as he finished in 1:39.43. In the afternoon session, he turned in a 45.25 in the in the 100 Free to break another 16-year-old mark. He ended the weekend as part of the 400 Free Relay, which broke the pool record with a time of 3:04.14.
