ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's swim team opened up its season on Friday night at Division I Navy. The Blue Jays fell, 156-96, to the Mids as Navy won all but one event in the meet. Sophomore Elizabeth Rogers (North Palm Beach, FL/Suncoast) picked up the lone win for Hopkins in the 150 Meter Free. The meet featured some non-traditional events, including the 400 Meter Breast and Back Relays.

Hopkins opened with a third place finish in the 200 Meter Medley Relay. Sophomore Lindsey Kent (West Bend, WI/Homestead), sophomore Annie Tsay (Sacramento, CA/Mira Loma), senior Lisa Qu (Atlanta, GA/Westminster) and freshman Eleanor Gardner (Smiths, Bermuda/Bermuda) swam the relay in 2:06.31. Freshman Cathy Howard (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) then took fourth in the 800 Meter Free with a time of 9:31.70.

The Blue Jays followed that by taking one-two in the 150 Meter Free, with Rogers taking the win. She clocked in at 1:35.02, just three-quarters of a second ahead of freshman Kristen Ferriero (Long Valley, NJ/Pope John XXIII). Freshman Daniella Villegas (Bellflower, CA/Cerritos) was the top finisher for JHU in the 50 Meter Back, finishing in 32.68 for fourth place. Sophomore Meaghan Bresnahan (Lighthouse Point, FL/Cardinal Gibbons) then took third in the 50 Meter Breast in 36.96.

Qu then took second in the 150 Meter Fly with a time of 1:48.40, while Gardner took fourth in the 50 Meter Free with a time of 28.31. The relay team of sophomore Margaret Spach (Laguna Niguel, CA/Aliso Niguel), Tsay, Qu and Gardner took second in the 400 Meter Medley with a time of 4:38.12. Ferriero was JHU's top finisher in the 150 Meter Back with a time of 1:51.39 for fourth place. Bresnahan took home her second third-place finish, clocking in at 2:04.62 in the 150 Meter Breast.

Howard placed fourth in the 400 Meter Free with a time of 4:42.99. Navy swam exhibitions for the remainder of the meet.
