OXFORD, OH - Senior Erica Pakkala (Lititz, PA/Warwick) earned All-America honors in two events Friday at the 2008 NCAA Division III Swimming Championships. The most decorated active female swimmer at Johns Hopkins, her career total now stands at 14 All-America honors.
Pakkala finished in 12th place in the 100 Back with a time of 58.66, a season-best time. She has earned All-America honors in the 100 Back four times. The Blue Jays then placed 13th in the 800 Free Relay, the final event of the day. The team of junior Elissa Stautner (The Woodlands, TX/Oak Ridge), freshman Michele Palopoli (Gwynedd Valley, PA/Germantown Academy), Pakkala and freshman Meagan Heslin (Wyckoff, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) swam a time of 7:59.04.
The championships will conclude on Saturday at the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford, OH. Prelims will begin at 11:00 am with finals slated to begin at 6:30 pm. Events to be swam tomorrow are the 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 1650 Free and 400 Free Relay.
