Guszkowski Named First Team All-American

BALTIMORE, MD - Senior goalkeeper Karen Guszkowski (Sayreville, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) was named to the 2009 NSCAA Women's NCAA Division III All-American Team. Guszkowski is the only Blue Jay on the All-American team but is joined on the All-Mid-Atlantic First Team by junior Jessica Hnatiuk (Baltimore, MD/John Carroll School) and sophomore Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill). Junior Jenn Paulucci (Manalapan, NJ/Freehold Boro) was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team. Guszkowski recorded eight shutouts and posted a 0.59 goals-against average and a .886 save percentage on the season. The senior was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team in 2008 and is just the third Blue Jay to be named to the All-America First Team. Hnatiuk, a defender, and Suter, a midfielder, join Guszkowski on the 2009 All-Mid-Atlantic First Team. Hnatiuk led the Blue Jay defense that allowed only 11 goals all season recorded 16 shutouts. Hnatiuk also scored five goals and recorded one assist on the year. Suter led the Blue Jays in scoring by finding the back of the net 11 times and assisting on 6 goals. Suter was an All-Region Third Team Selection in 2008. Paulucci, a defender, was named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Second Team. She was an integral part of the Blue Jay defense. Paulucci was a First Team All-American in 2008 and Second Team All-Region in 2007. This brings the total number of All-Region selections at Hopkins to 33 and the total number of First Team All-Americans to three.
