BALTIMORE, MD -
Sophomore Jenn Paulucci (Manalapan, NJ/Freehold Boro) of the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America First-Team All-American on Monday by the NSCAA. Paulucci was a mainstay of a stellar Blue Jay defense in 2008 that posted 17 shutouts to finish 18-1-4. Paulucci is the second NSCAA First-Team All-American in Johns Hopkins history. Kaitlin Gianetti was the first NSCAA All-American selection in the program in 2006.
The sophomore helped Hopkins to its first NCAA Third Round appearance in program history after earning two shutout victories in the first and second rounds. Paulucci led a stingy defense through the Centennial Conference Tournament that did allow a goal through 213 minutes of playoff action to earn Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week following the tournament (11/10/08). The sophomore earned the second Defensive Player of the Week selection of the season as she received the honor on September 2 for her role in the Blue Jays' three shutouts to open the season.
Paulucci was named First Team All-Centennial as a freshman and was the only unanimous selection in 2008. Paulucci also earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team accolades in 2008. The Manalapan, NJ native started in all 23 games and recorded two assists. She was named to the 2008 Centennial Conference Academic Honor Roll as well.
