Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer scored two first-half goals to defeat Gettysburg 2-0 in the Centennial Conference semifinal game on Saturday night. The Blue Jays (13-4-2) advance to their fourth straight Centennial Conference Championship game with the victory and now are unbeaten in their last eight contests.

The Blue Jays wasted little time in getting on the board as freshman Erin Stafford (Doylestown, PA/Villa Joseph Marie) scored in the 4th minute of the game. Stafford collected a ball in front of the net and pushed it home for her third goal of the season.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the hosts until the 29th minute. Senior Kim Lane (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) launched a shot from about 20 yards out and it sailed into the top left hand corner of the net.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the second half as Hopkins finished the game holding a 13-5 advantage in shots.

Sophomore Karen Guszkowski (Sayreville, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) made two saves to post her sixth shutout of the season. Danielle St. Pierre made three saves in net for Gettysburg.

Hopkins will face Ursinus in tomorrow's Centennial Conference Championship game. Ursinus is making its first appearance in the Centennial Conference Title game after advancing on penalty kicks 5-3 against Swarthmore. Game time at Homewood Field on Sunday is set for 4 p.m.
