Hopkins Goes Undefeated In Centennial Conference Play with 4-0 Defeat Of Ursinus

BALTIMORE, MD - Head coach Leo Weil and the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team downed Ursinus, 4-0 at home to complete the first unbeaten season in program history with a 15-0-3 (10-0) mark. The Ursinus Bears fall to 6-10-1 (5-5 CC) for the regular season. Each Blue Jay recorded minutes in the win that capped the best season in a 17-year program history.

Sophomore Allie Zazzali (Scotch Plains, NJ/Scotch Plains-Fanwood) was the first Blue Jay on the scoreboard, recording her fifth goal of the season, as her shot was too much for Ursinus goalkeeper Lisa Clark to handle at 29:39.The goal was assisted by Molly Steele and Sara Tankard. Freshman Leslie O'Brien (Huntington, NY/Huntington) hit the net next, beating the Ursinus defense at 44:52 to score her third goal of the season.

In the second half, senior Molly Steele (Daleville, VA/North Cross) wasted little time after halftime, scoring in the 49th minute to put Hopkins up 3-0. The goal was assisted by freshman Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) and was the fourth goal of the year for Steele.

Zazzali sent a header past Clark in the 71st minute to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 victory over the Ursinus Bears. Sophomore Rhiannon Desideri (Eastchester, NY/Eastchester) was credited with an assist on the play.

Junior goalkeeper Karen Guszkowski (Sayreville, NJ/Cardinal McCarrick) recorded two saves, while Ursinus keeper Lisa Clark posted seven.

Guszkowski moved into fifth in saves in the JHU career record book (114) ... Freshman Erica Suter is now tied for seventh in single season goals (10) and tied for ninth in single-season points (23) with Kim Lane (23, 2007) ... Hopkins is the fourth team to finish at 10-0 in Centennial Conference action and the only team to reach the feat twice (2006, 2008).
