Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's soccer team battled Frostburg State to a 2-2 tie Wednesday night at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays move to 7-0-3 on the season as the Frostburg State Bobcats slide to 6-1-2 on the year.

Frostburg State capitalized on an early Hopkins mistake to score its first goal at 6:17 in the first half.

The Blue Jays answered back with their own score at 36:17 when freshman Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) headed home the equalizer after a pass from senior Molly Steele (Daleville, VA/North Cross).

Hopkins took the lead at 62:41 on a goal from freshman Colleen Quinlan (Sykesville, MD/Marriots Ridge). The goal was the first of her career and was assisted by Suter.

A defensive mistake by the Blue Jays gave the Bobcats a free kick 10 yards from the goal. The kick resulted in an own goal from a header tipped by the Hopkins defense and tied the game at 2-2 at the 82 minute-mark.

Neither team could capitalize in the first overtime period. After 100 minutes of soccer, the game remained tied at 2-2, forcing a second overtime.

110 minutes was not enough to end the 2-2 draw, but the Blue Jays remain unbeaten at Homewood Field in 2008 in five contests.

Freshman goal keeper Kristen Redsun (Trabuco Canyon, CA/Santa Margarita) started her first collegiate game and made four saves.

The No. 5 Blue Jays will host Centennial Conference foe Haverford on Friday, October 3 at 7 p.m.
