Box Score

ALLENTOWN, PA -- Despite outshooting Muhlenberg, 32-7, the #6 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team lost its first Centennial Conference match in 17 games, 2-0, to the Mules Saturday afternoon in Allentown, PA.

Muhlenberg (3-5-1, 1-2) used two timely goals in each half to upset the nationally ranked Blue Jays and earn its first conference victory of the season. Goalkeeper Francesca Cobuzzi was fantastic in net for the Mules, posting 17 saves to earn the shutout.

Johns Hopkins (6-2-1, 1-1) opened the match with four shots, but the Mules' CJ Graetzer struck first in the 16th minute. Graetzer collected a long punt from Cobuzzi and beat Blue Jay goalie Meredith Maguire to put Muhlenberg ahead, 1-0.

The Mules then took advantage of a glaring mistake by the Blue Jay backline in the 79th minute to ensure the upset victory as Taylor Pini stole the ball and scored on a breakaway.

The Blue Jays unleashed a fury of shots on Muhlenberg throughout the game, but were snakebitten when it came to finishing past Cobuzzi. With 12 shots, Christina Convey totaled more shots than the entire Muhlenberg team combined.

Hopkins has an entire week to regroup before returning to action on September 30 against Swarthmore at Homewood Field.
