Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - The 17th-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team defeated Misericordia Wednesday evening, 4-0. The Blue Jays improve to 4-2 with the win, while the Cougars saw their losing streak extend to four.

Sophomore Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD) waited just 3:25 into the game to score her second goal of the season, giving the Blue Jays an early, 1-0 lead. Hopkins and Misericordia played the remainder of the half without a score. The Blue Jays outshot the Cougars 7-1 in the first half, while they also held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The Blue Jays pushed their lead to two in the 58th minute as senior Sarah Roeder (Durham, NH) scored off an assist from Sara Tankard (Clarksville, MD). Hopkins looked to have a good chance to score in the 67th minute, but the Cougars committed a foul in the penalty box stopping a sure scoring opportunity. Allie Zazzali (Scotch Plains, NJ) stepped to the line and fired a shot past Misericordia's keeper Morgan Myers, to extend the Blue Jay lead to, 3-0.

Sophomore Colleen Quinlan (Sykesville, MD) made it a four-goal game in the 86th minute, lofting a shot from 30 yards away over the outstretched arms of Myers. The Blue Jays finished the game outshooting the Cougars 22-3.

Hopkins returns to action this Saturday, September 19 as the Blue Jays travel to Chestertown, MD for their Centennial Conference opener against Washington (MD).
