RALEIGH, NC -- It was a tale of two halves Friday night in Raleigh, NC as the #3 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team drew #2 Emory, 2-2.

The Blue Jays scored two first half goals to set the tone early in the match, but Emory (2-0-1) battled back with two goals of its own in the second half. Kelly Costopoulos scored in the 81st minute to ensure the Eagles' comeback.

Junior Pamela Vranis got the Blue Jays on the board early, nodding home her first goal of the season on a cross from sophomore Hannah Kronick. Hopkins (2-1-1) then added to its lead in the 35th minute as Issy Berkey scored her first collegiate goal to make the score 2-0.

Hopkins outshot Emory 9-3 in the first frame, forcing goalkeeper Erica Stein to make four saves.

The Blue Jays struggled offensively in the final 65 minutes, however, as the Eagles outshot Hopkins, 12-3, in the second half and overtime periods.

Emory cut the Hopkins lead in half 18 minutes into the second half when Claudia Rowe received a pass from Karina Rodriguez and beat goalkeeper Meredith Maguire. Costopoulos then tied the match with nine minutes to play on a header from Charlotte Butker.

The Blue Jays seek to end their two-game winless streak against Birmingham-Southern on Sunday at noon in Raleigh, NC.
