Box Score

BALTIMORE, MD - The sixth-ranked Johns Hopkins women's soccer team defeated 10th-ranked Lynchburg, 1-0, to win the JHU Invitational. It is the Blue Jays' second win over a top 10 ranked opponent in as many days. Hopkins improves to 2-0 while Lynchburg drops to 2-1.

In the 43rd minute junior Jessica Hnatiuk (Baltimore, MD) fired a free kick from 35 yards away into the box and sophomore Erica Suter (Ellicott City, MD) was able to head the ball past Lynchburg's keeper. The Blue Jays registered their second consecutive shutout, despite being outshot 17-10 overall and 10-3 in the second half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Kristen Redsun (Trabuco Canyon, CA) anchored the defense tallying eight saves, while recording her first career shutout.

The Blue Jays return to action on Wednesday, September 9 when they travel to Grantham, PA to face last year's national champion and this year's number one-ranked team, Messiah.
