EWING, NJ -- Sophomore Hannah Kronick tallied her first career hat trick to power the #3 Johns Hopkins women's soccer team past Rochester (NY) 4-0 in Ewing, NJ Saturday afternoon. The result marks the Blue Jays second victory in as many days.

Hopkins (2-0-0) dominated Rochester (0-2-0) throughout the match, but did not find the back of the net until Kronick nodded home a cross from Sydney Teng in the 64th minute. Teng then added a goal of her own three minutes later, beating goalkeeper Bridget Lang to the left corner.

Kronick, the Blue Jays' co-leading scorer in 2011, put Hopkins ahead 3-0 in the 77th minute after knocking home a goal from inside the six-yard box. The sophomore capped her hat trick with a 45 yard strike in the 90th minute into an open net.

Rochester's Katie Sappio was issued a red card in the 26th minute for fouling on a clear goal scoring opportunity, forcing the Yellow Jackets to play a man down for 64 minutes.

Lang was spectacular in net for the Yellow Jackets, making 16 saves in the match. The netminder kept the contest scoreless in the first half after thwarting a Christina Convey shot with a diving save.

The Blue Jays return to action Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. for a premier matchup against regional rival #1 Messiah at Homewood Field. Hopkins has not beaten Messiah since September 21, 1999 in a 1-0 overtime victory.
